Literacy Narrative Reflection
Last week, my narrative essay homework draft was due. It was written about the two political cartoons of Ruby Bridges and Betsy DeVos. Now that I am writing this reflective essay, I feel mixed emotions about what I wrote. My stance skewed more towards the argument that Betsy DeVos’s circumstance was not the same as that of Ruby Bridges. I mostly argued on how this mixture of two different political events could not be synthesized, therefore supporting my stance on why there were different viewpoints on both political pictures.
I felt mixed emotions for various reasons. For starters, it is known that Ruby Bridges’ political event was more justifiable than that of Betsy DeVos. However, I began to question myself if my stance would change if I were a White American. I began to ask if my views would change if I were a rich superior Republican. From Betsy Devos’ viewpoint, she believed she was fighting for what was right in her own idiosyncrasies. Therefore, after observing my reflective essay, my stance became indifferent.
Exploratory Essay Reflection
While writing this exploratory essay, I became more intrigued, surprised, and disturbed about the topic. At first, I chose to use Poe’s “A Black Cat” because I know that his writing is very interesting. It has different dark themes where I believe gives the individual to reflect on these topics. I feel as if one can read this story and relate it to the actions of other people. I was surprised because while writing this paper, I would ask myself, “Where does the author get his inspiration from?” and “What motivated him to write this specific story?” I was intrigued because I feel as if there are many people in today’s society that go through situations similar like this one. Now to think that that may be one reason why we see animal cruelty. There are individuals that regrettably abuse other animals. They may not understand why they do so, but it is a relief to their psychological anger that some may have within. I was also disturbed by my own writing because I began to think if the author himself went through these situations at one point of his life. I was also disturbed because everything that I read in this story was backed up by a psychoanalytical ideology created by Sigmund Freud. To think that someone from many years ago would be able to discern people’s behaviors and why they do what they do. Hence, although there were different emotions while writing this essay like disturbance and curiosity, I can say that I enjoyed writing this paper because it allowed me to further deepen my knowledge of analysis in readings and the psychoanalytic concepts that have been discussed in Freud’s Lecture Two.
Critical Research Paper Reflection
In all honesty, writing this paper was a challenging experience. I am not 100% sure exactly how everything should have been, however I tried to do everything correctly. Finding the information was not complicated. My biggest fear was not completing the paper on time because I have been very busy with work and other school work, but I was able to manage time accordingly. I feel as if I was writing a paper for a topic, I am far from mastering. I felt confused many times. I was scared that my information may not be well coordinated and unorganized, but I tried my best. Although it wasn’t the easiest of papers, I am able to say it is a working progress. As I wrote I felt proud of myself for various reasons. I said to myself, “I wanted a challenge so here it is!” My goal is to have an A in this paper. It was difficult finding the scholarly source because I only found one that was exactly for super frog. Therefore, I had to find another one that at least tied close to Murakami as the author, so I would be able to connect it to the central theme of the story. It was easy writing the CRP proposal so that helped as a start off for my introduction which also gave me ideas. I would have to go back up and reread my introduction at times to make sure my body paragraphs correlated with them. What I do hope for is that everything that I wrote in this paper would be able to catch the reader’s attention and fulfilled every part of the rubric in order to get a high grade.
